CD Projekt Red, the Polish game developer, has announced plans to commence the production phase of the next game in The Witcher franchise this year. With approximately 400 individuals working on the project, the company aims to release the game in 2024.
While specific details about the game’s content have not yet been disclosed, the project has been internally codenamed “Polaris”. Analysts expect the release to take place in 2026 or 2027.
In addition to The Witcher news, CD Projekt Red has also shared some information about the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. With the internal codename ‘Orion’, the game is currently in the conceptual phase. However, by the end of this year, around eighty people will already be working on the project. There is even consideration being given to the addition of multiplayer elements to the game, although no specific details have been provided.
CD Projekt Red has also announced the establishment of a division to explore the use of artificial intelligence in game development. While CEO Adam Badowski emphasizes that AI can enhance the development processes, he also recognizes that it cannot replace human creativity and expertise.
These announcements showcase CD Projekt Red’s ongoing commitment to creating innovative and high-quality games in both The Witcher and Cyberpunk franchises. Fans can look forward to the next adventures of Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher and the evolution of the dystopian world of Cyberpunk 2077 in the near future.
